Good Day…

Posted by Lisa on December 1, 2009

So I’m feeling a lot better.  Got a ton of flatting done today, which is always good.    I send out invoices tomorrow… so that to is also always good, ha ha    I have coloring to keep me occupied the rest of the week so all in all things are going well.

Had a very nice thanksgiving and had a wonderful surprise of a 2 lb weight loss this week.  Go figure… that much food should not result in a 2 lb loss, ha ha  I guess since it was just a couple days it didn’t really matter all that much.  Or it won’t catch up with me until next week… both are possible.  lol  Anyway with that loss I got my next 5 lb star at weight watchers… bringing my total loss to 15 lbs.  That is total loss since earlier this year.  There were several months in there we were off plan.  So anyway I’m happy about that.  It made my Monday much more bearable.

So on Thanksgiving I took the entire day off… well almost I colored the NCD for this week while I listened to Zone 4, but that’s it.  While taking my time off I was able to read the first volume of Runaways.  Which consisted of the first 18 issues.  I’m loving it so far!  I’ll be starting the next arc soon.  Everyone who recommended it to me was so right, it is exactly the kind of thing I enjoy reading.  This weekend I was also able to read The Escapists by Brian K Vaughn.   http://www.amazon.com/Escapists-Brian-K-Vaughan/dp/1595823611/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1259646776&sr=8-2 I ended up getting that one bundled up with the volume of runaways I ordered on eBay.  Anyway… I loved that book!  It was great… even though I have no knowledge of the source material for the escapist I was really surprised by the story.  I wasn’t sure what I was reading to begin with… it was a happy accident that I ended up getting that book.  I loved the little bit of behind the scenes of the making comics you get from the story.  The characters are likable, especially the letterer.  I can’t remember his name at the moment, but he was so fun.  Anyway… loved it.  That’s about all I have to say. :)  So I got a good bit of reading in while I was taking some time off for the holiday.  I enjoyed it immensely.

So also, for anyone that follows the randomness that is my blog, I’m still on my anime kick.  I finished Shugo Chara Doki and then watched on called Paradise Kiss.  Was so disappointed with the ending of that one, I’m glad it was only a 12 episode series.  So I watch a couple episodes before I go to bed each night, it’s a fun way to end the work day I think. ^_^   I found this great website this weekend where you can put together a list of all of the anime you’ve watched and rate it.  So I did that.  I tried doing something similar myself to keep track of what shows I would rewatch.  Anyway… this is so much easier.  For anyone interested here’s my list:  http://www.anime-planet.com/users/tinkfan83/anime This site also lets you look up any anime and below that will be other series that people recommend if you liked that show.  I love that feature!  I have the hardest time finding new shows to try.  So yeah… if your into anime check it out.

Ok… enough of my rambling.

Strange Day

Posted by Lisa on November 25, 2009

Just had a really strange… blah kind of day.   Wasn’t feeling to well yesterday or today and just took its toll I guess.  I got absolutely nothing accomplished.  So now tomorrow I’ll be busy busy trying to get everything done before thanksgiving.  Just have to get some flatting done.  Made a tiny bit of progress on Dynagirl yesterday and plan to get a lot done on that this weekend.  I have a schedule worked out on what I’d like to get done for the first issue and now  I’m a few pages behind what I was hoping for at this time.  I think I can catch up though.  Good news is I’m really liking what I’ve done so far.  So it is turning out well I think.

Thanksgiving should be a lot of fun, I’m usually in charge of making the dinner rolls… so this year I’ve found a new recipe I’m trying out.  So I’ll be making that and Cinnamon Rolls for my brother.  My Dad pretty much handles the rest of the thanksgiving meal… he’s an awesome cook and thanksgiving is hands down our family’s favorite meal.  So needless to say I won’t be counting Weight Watcher’s points on thursday.  Things are still going pretty well on that front.  I ended up gaining a pound this week due to the same reason I’ve been feeling bad the past couple days.  Yeah guys, I’m sure you can work out that reason without me actually have to come out and say it.  So I’ve lost every week since I started up until this point.   I’m amazed that we are doing as well as we are at this time of year.  I think it is just really time.  I have to admit I have a bit of motivation this time in the fact that next September there is chance I might be participating in a panel at a comic convention… on camera.  So yeah… I’d really like to loose some excess baggage for that.  It’s going to be tough enough just getting words out of my mouth… I don’t want to be totally self conscious on top of it all.  ha ha

So, saw New Moon this past weekend.  Really liked it!  In my opinion it was so much better than the first movie.  It was so much more faithful to the book.  Jacob was great and you really get the beginning of the love triangle going on.  Me thinks I might have to go and see it again. :)  I really enjoyed the way they handled Bella’s Edward hallucinations.   I was going to be a little upset if they’d left that out.  I think it could have used a bit more of the volturie at the end, but other than that.  Great flick!

So yeah… that’s about it I guess.  Just wanted to get something new posted here.  I’m going to attempt to get to work on  some new practice coloring pieces after issue one of dynagirl is complete.  I’ll start posting those here when I get to it.  I’ve got a great Doctor Who page that I really want to get colored.  The artist was kind enough to send it over to me, so its been several months since he did that so I really want to get going on it.

Anyway… that’s it.  G’nite All and have a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Just found out on of my favorite American Idol alum, Jason Castro,  is coming out with an album early next year.  Loved this guy and the first single is great.  Totally the kind of music I like…. plus his hair reminds me a lot of Lister from Red Dwarf… ha ha  Anyway, so here’s his first video. :)

First Week and stuff…

Posted by Lisa on November 3, 2009

Kay, so first week of weight watchers and cooking for myself is over.   Wasn’t to bad, the cooking enough one night to last for 2 worked out really well.  First week I lost 2.2 pounds.  I’m good with that.  For weight watchers that is just about the amount of weight each week you are meant to lose on the program.  I’ve found that if I lose weight in smaller steady amounts that it tends to stay off.  So I’m off to a good start. ^_^  I’ll try to keep updating here about that, might keep the motivation high.  I had to much flatting to do tonight to start my walking, but the plan is to start that up tomorrow night.  I think I’m going to go with my plan of walking during Craig Ferguson, should work out pretty well.

Been doing a bit of inking late at night these past few days, just wanted to get going on faerie stories, so only half a page to go and I’ll be caught up with Iwan on inks.  So then just 6 more pages of pencils and issue one will fully penciled.  So that is quite exciting!  Gonna finish that page up tomorrow night and get all my flatting done tomorrow so that I can get cracking on coloring Dyna Girl.  Didn’t get to that this weekend as planned, to many pages to get flatted.  I think I’m going to try to work out a schedule next week of flatting during the day and coloring at night.  Gotta do something so I can stay on top of things.

Anyway, nothing much else to talk about.  Figured I’d share quickly what I’ve been watching on TV these days.  TV to me = watching/listening to shows on my computer while I’m working, lol  I very rarely watch an actual television anymore.  I’ve found a few new shows this season that I’m really digging.  First Glee, it’s great!  So quirky and it’s musical, so totally my sort of show.  Next up I’m watching a couple of the abc wednesday night comedies.  My favorite of the bunch is Cougar Town, there is just something about that show I’m finding so hilarious.  It’s not especially brilliant writing or anything, I’m just enjoying the show.  I never watched Friends so I haven’t really seen Courtney Cox in anything other than this.  I think she’s doing a great job and I’m liking her a lot in this.  Next up I’m watching The Middle, I didn’t love this one to begin with but I gave it another watch the second week and it just keeps growing on me.  I did watch Everybody Loves Raymond so I like seeing  Patricia Heaton in a new show.  Also love seeing “The Janitor” from Scrubs in a bit of different role.   So I think those are the only new shows I’ve been watching so far this season.  Tried a few others but didn’t love them, so those are the new keepers.  Happy to hear that Chuck will be back for a new season!  So some older shows that are must see’s for me for the week are  Castle, Grey’s Anatomy, Big Bang Theory, The Office, Ugly Betty (I’ve been watching from the first season and just can’t let it go, lol).  Wow you know, I think those are all of my must see’s.  I’m so behind on Heroes there isn’t even a point anymore.  Smallville isn’t on the list because I’m a bit behind on that one as well.  Those I will however for sure be watching.  Just have to catch up.  Ok, enough tv talk I suppose. :)  Just needed something to fill the space a bit.  lol

Eh… Nothing Much.

Posted by Lisa on October 29, 2009

So nothing much to report, just figured it was about time for an update.

Been working flatting a lot this month, which is good.  Should be caught up on flats tomorrow and then I can get some serious coloring done this weekend.  The plan is to get seriously started on Dynagirl #1 this weekend, got the first half of the book flatted and ready to go.  So I’m looking forward to getting started on that.  Totem was such a blast to color, I’m sure Dynagirl is going to be just as much fun!  Got a few other coloring projects on the do-to list for November as well, so things are going well on the work front. :)

Tonight I spent a bit of time trying to put together a cute layout for a new website for Faerie Stories.  Figured it deserved a home of its own.  Also have a few things planned that really need to have it setup on its own domain.  So FaerieStories.com will be coming by the end of the year, hopefully.  I’m going to really start working time into my schedule to work on that project in earnest.  It’s been kind of sporadic up until now.  Iwan is doing such a great job on the art I really want to start getting the ball rolling on this.  Get some color laid down and make sure I’m good enough to do the lettering.  Might look into having someone else letter it for me if I can’t do it to my satisfaction.  I’m fine with small lettering projects, but am not sure about this one.  So we’ll see.

In non-work related news, I’ve started up weight watchers again.  This time it was kind of unplanned and just sort of happened.  My mother and sister decided to go on Adkins, I was going to do that with them initially and then decided against it.  There are just not enough vegetables that I love to go on that diet.  The ones that I do love were on their ”eat in moderation” list.  So I’ll be cooking my meals on my own… yes I’ve been spoiled up until now and my sister cooked everything, lol  So far it’s been going well, I’m just cooking 3 meals a week, going for the cook enough one night to last two.  I don’t mind leftovers, so it works for me.  This way it is also easier to split up the meals and count out the points.  So yeah, strange time of year to start this up, but who cares.  Whatever works.  I’ll still blow it on Thanksgiving I’m sure.  I figure if we are eating well the rest of the time a couple days on thanksgiving and Christmas are not going to matter much.  So yeah, gonna start walking again next week.  I’m putting together a schedule to work out all this stuff.  Figure I might just start walking every night during Craig Ferguson or something.  So that I’ll be walking on a consistent basis at the same time everyday.  I’m gonna try it out anyway.  That’s the only late night show I watch, and I don’t do mornings so my work outs are late. lol

Ok, enough of that.  I’ve been bitten by the Anime bug again.  Don’t know if I’ve talked about that here before or not.  My little brother got me into watching anime several years ago.  I can’t remember what show it started with really, but I soon discovered the wonderful world of cute/funny/girly/romancy anime, ha ha  Right now I’m on my cute/funny phase and am watching Shugo Chara! Doki!  It’s freakin’ adorable.  Next I might try something a bit more serious, I’ve had a couple series recommended to me, so those are next on the list.  I get into these moods where that’s all I’ll watch in my spare time for a couple months.  Then it’s like the thirst is quenched and I move on to something else.  I’m odd.   So far my favorite series have been Lovely Complex, Ouran High School Host Club, and Aza Manga Dio (this one is really strange, my brother got me watching that one).   It’s strange how I love Anime but have never read any Manga.

Anyway, off that random tangent.  Back to sorting out my website layout.  Night All.
