Podcast & Weightless Video Log

Posted by Lisa on January 29, 2010

So yeah figured since I hadn’t updated here since the 7th (wow I’m slacking) I should go ahead and post a quick little update.

First up my friends over at ComicRelated.com were kind enough to have me on one of their podcasts this week.  So even though I was a little freaked out because it was my first time every doing something like that I think it turned out fairly well.  I didn’t sound like a complete moron or anything, ha ha  So I was only on for a little interview as one of the segments, but you should listen to the whole show anyway, it was a good one!  Here’s the link…

http://comicrelated.com/news/5028/the-related-recap-174

Next up I finally made a decision about what I’m going to do about my weightloss updates.  I’m starting a video log on youtube.  Yeah… a bit strange I know.  Especially for those people that know me, kind of out of character for me.   However I’m going to give it a shot, I figured it was a good way to keep my motivation high.  I mean if I have to weigh in every monday and then report about it on video I’m more likely to stay on plan.  That’s my reasoning anyway.  ha  So yeah I posted a really short intro video already.  Next one goes up monday and will be a bit longer I’m sure.  So every monday I’ll weigh in and do a little video of my results.  So there it is if you have any desire at all to keep up with that journey just check out my youtube channel on mondays.  This is likely the last entry I will have about weightloss here on this particular site.  So from now on I won’t bore you so much with personal stuff like that and will mainly just talk about things I’m working on.

So here’s the first video…

And that’s about it.  Work is going well.  Busy, busy flatting the past few weeks.  Just wrapped a book I’m happy to be done with. lol  So more on work at a later date.  I’m sure I’ll have some things to talk about soon.

Faerie Stories

Posted by Lisa on January 7, 2010

Been working on the website for Faerie Stories a bit tonight.  I worked up a temporary logo that I think turned out really cute.  I’m quite  happy with it actually, to bad it was designed in photoshop and I don’t think it would transfer well to being the logo for the book since its so low resolution.  I’ve got a friend designing the logo for me anyway, so no worries.  I do like it though I think it came out rather well.  Kind of playful and fun.  So I’ve decided on just using another wordpress blog for the site.  It’s going to be so much easier.  I might do the whole custom css thing for it, but maybe not. lol  Depends on how lazy I get or how much free time I have.  So I guess I’m on a faeries kick these days.  I’m spending all the time I’m not flatting or coloring working on it.  Next I need to focus on getting the last 2 parts of the story written.  I was originally going to publish the book in separate issues but I think I’ve decided against that and it will now be a graphic novel around 60 to 65 pages of story.  All depends on how it works out once its written.  Also a friend, Brant Fowler has come on board the team as letterer and editor.  So I’m looking forward to working with him on it.  So this is now officially a 3 man team.  Well 2 men and one me, ha ha

I really hope to get it printed one way or another this year.  It all depends on everybody’s schedules though.  Iwan’s a busy guy and I’m willing to wait, because his art is amazing and the perfect match for the story I want to tell.  He puts so much detail into everything and thinks it out so well.  I have absolutely no complaints about the art…. now the coloring which I have yet to really start on is going to be kind of hard.  Because I’m not sure what style I want to color it in.  I have a couple ideas in mind and I think I might do a trial print of each style and see which I like better.  Perhaps as editor Brant can tell me what looks better. lol

In other work… I have 2 pages left of issue one of Dynagirl.  Well the first half of it anyway.  I’m waiting on the rest of the book from Cary.  So until they come in I’m almost done. ha ha

Also just got a ton of pages in for Spy16 the whole first issue as a matter of fact.  I get started on that this weekend.  Fun, Fun stuff.

So that’s all really.  Just figured I’d give a quick Faerie and work update.   Oh and I think I’m going to stop posting all my weight loss stuff here.  I’m going to start a personal blog for that.  I think it will be better that way.  It will leave me free to just talk comics and coloring here.  I’ll post a link when its ready.  ^_^

Happy New Year!

Posted by Lisa on January 1, 2010

So wow, it’s been quite a while since my last update.   Guess I’ve just been busy with the holidays and work.  Guess I’ll do a quick rundown of what’s been going on with me.

First work is good.  I’ve taken on a bit more flatting and am catching up on my coloring.   The first issue of Dynagirl is just about half way finished.  I’m really liking how its turning out so far and Harold the artist on the series seems to be liking it as well.  So all is great where that is concerned.  I’m so happy to be a part of that  project.   Also in the works is another series, a zuda entry I colored was picked up for publication.  So I  have that to color now, which is awesome because I loved that story and the art.  I’ve barely started that one, but its ready to roll as soon as I get some time freed up.  Then I of course still have New Comic Day which I’m coloring weekly, which is always fun.

Next up, Christmas this year was a lot of fun.  My family actually had our big Christmas thing a bit early.  We’ve started a rather odd tradition of going to Shreveport Louisiana every year.  This is the second year we’ve done it.  Had to wait for my little brother to turn 21, ha ha  We get a hotel room and do some very light gambling,  My Dad really enjoys it and its pretty fun so I take $50 bucks and see how long I can make it last.  Plus there is an amazing seafood restaurant there that we like to eat at.  We get it once a year and its oh so worth it.  Yum!  So that was fun, the only bad thing about it is every time you go into a casino you come out smelling like an ashtray.

In dieting news I pretty much fell off the wagon after thanksgiving and gained 4 pounds over the holidays.  Started back up on weightwatchers on Monday and am again cooking for myself.  Seemed to work pretty well before and I’m going to be sticking with it for a while.  See how it goes.  I’m looking to loose 30 to 50 pounds by September.   Hopefully I can do better than that but I’m trying to come up with an achievable goal.  I’m not sure if I’m going to keep updating here about my dieting stuff.  I’m toying with the idea of starting a new weightloss blog thing.  Not sure if I’ll do it or not, its just seeming weirder and weirder posting things like this here when this is basically a website to showcase my coloring work.  So I’m considering it.

Ok, so I guess that’s about enough of an update for today.

Again just want to say Happy New Year!  I hope 2010 is very kind to us all.  :)

Good Day…

Posted by Lisa on December 1, 2009

So I’m feeling a lot better.  Got a ton of flatting done today, which is always good.    I send out invoices tomorrow… so that to is also always good, ha ha    I have coloring to keep me occupied the rest of the week so all in all things are going well.

Had a very nice thanksgiving and had a wonderful surprise of a 2 lb weight loss this week.  Go figure… that much food should not result in a 2 lb loss, ha ha  I guess since it was just a couple days it didn’t really matter all that much.  Or it won’t catch up with me until next week… both are possible.  lol  Anyway with that loss I got my next 5 lb star at weight watchers… bringing my total loss to 15 lbs.  That is total loss since earlier this year.  There were several months in there we were off plan.  So anyway I’m happy about that.  It made my Monday much more bearable.

So on Thanksgiving I took the entire day off… well almost I colored the NCD for this week while I listened to Zone 4, but that’s it.  While taking my time off I was able to read the first volume of Runaways.  Which consisted of the first 18 issues.  I’m loving it so far!  I’ll be starting the next arc soon.  Everyone who recommended it to me was so right, it is exactly the kind of thing I enjoy reading.  This weekend I was also able to read The Escapists by Brian K Vaughn.   http://www.amazon.com/Escapists-Brian-K-Vaughan/dp/1595823611/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1259646776&sr=8-2 I ended up getting that one bundled up with the volume of runaways I ordered on eBay.  Anyway… I loved that book!  It was great… even though I have no knowledge of the source material for the escapist I was really surprised by the story.  I wasn’t sure what I was reading to begin with… it was a happy accident that I ended up getting that book.  I loved the little bit of behind the scenes of the making comics you get from the story.  The characters are likable, especially the letterer.  I can’t remember his name at the moment, but he was so fun.  Anyway… loved it.  That’s about all I have to say. :)  So I got a good bit of reading in while I was taking some time off for the holiday.  I enjoyed it immensely.

So also, for anyone that follows the randomness that is my blog, I’m still on my anime kick.  I finished Shugo Chara Doki and then watched on called Paradise Kiss.  Was so disappointed with the ending of that one, I’m glad it was only a 12 episode series.  So I watch a couple episodes before I go to bed each night, it’s a fun way to end the work day I think. ^_^   I found this great website this weekend where you can put together a list of all of the anime you’ve watched and rate it.  So I did that.  I tried doing something similar myself to keep track of what shows I would rewatch.  Anyway… this is so much easier.  For anyone interested here’s my list:  http://www.anime-planet.com/users/tinkfan83/anime This site also lets you look up any anime and below that will be other series that people recommend if you liked that show.  I love that feature!  I have the hardest time finding new shows to try.  So yeah… if your into anime check it out.

Ok… enough of my rambling.

Strange Day

Posted by Lisa on November 25, 2009

Just had a really strange… blah kind of day.   Wasn’t feeling to well yesterday or today and just took its toll I guess.  I got absolutely nothing accomplished.  So now tomorrow I’ll be busy busy trying to get everything done before thanksgiving.  Just have to get some flatting done.  Made a tiny bit of progress on Dynagirl yesterday and plan to get a lot done on that this weekend.  I have a schedule worked out on what I’d like to get done for the first issue and now  I’m a few pages behind what I was hoping for at this time.  I think I can catch up though.  Good news is I’m really liking what I’ve done so far.  So it is turning out well I think.

Thanksgiving should be a lot of fun, I’m usually in charge of making the dinner rolls… so this year I’ve found a new recipe I’m trying out.  So I’ll be making that and Cinnamon Rolls for my brother.  My Dad pretty much handles the rest of the thanksgiving meal… he’s an awesome cook and thanksgiving is hands down our family’s favorite meal.  So needless to say I won’t be counting Weight Watcher’s points on thursday.  Things are still going pretty well on that front.  I ended up gaining a pound this week due to the same reason I’ve been feeling bad the past couple days.  Yeah guys, I’m sure you can work out that reason without me actually have to come out and say it.  So I’ve lost every week since I started up until this point.   I’m amazed that we are doing as well as we are at this time of year.  I think it is just really time.  I have to admit I have a bit of motivation this time in the fact that next September there is chance I might be participating in a panel at a comic convention… on camera.  So yeah… I’d really like to loose some excess baggage for that.  It’s going to be tough enough just getting words out of my mouth… I don’t want to be totally self conscious on top of it all.  ha ha

So, saw New Moon this past weekend.  Really liked it!  In my opinion it was so much better than the first movie.  It was so much more faithful to the book.  Jacob was great and you really get the beginning of the love triangle going on.  Me thinks I might have to go and see it again. :)  I really enjoyed the way they handled Bella’s Edward hallucinations.   I was going to be a little upset if they’d left that out.  I think it could have used a bit more of the volturie at the end, but other than that.  Great flick!

So yeah… that’s about it I guess.  Just wanted to get something new posted here.  I’m going to attempt to get to work on  some new practice coloring pieces after issue one of dynagirl is complete.  I’ll start posting those here when I get to it.  I’ve got a great Doctor Who page that I really want to get colored.  The artist was kind enough to send it over to me, so its been several months since he did that so I really want to get going on it.

Anyway… that’s it.  G’nite All and have a very Happy Thanksgiving!
